All about Jambrea Jo Jones
I started writing in middle school. That's also when I really started to read. I used to HATE reading. One year an aunt brought over a box of books with some duplicates. My sister would read the book and I would follow along with the copy. Soon I was reading all the time and I even got grounded for reading a time or two. I was also that student who put a book in her math book.
In 2008, I joined a Yahoo! group and discovered Joyfully Reviewed. After reviewing for a while, I got the writing bug again. During this time, there was a call in one of the many Yahoo! groups I'm a member of for a sweet anthology. I thought, why not? I opened my email a few weeks later, while on vacation, the first email I saw was an acceptance for my short story to be included in the anthology and the next email I saw was a rejection for my solo story. So it was the best day and the worst day. The cool thing about the rejection? I revised the story and sent it in for a call from Total-E-Bound for a shifter anthology and I got in! It was my first story with TEB. It is in the Over the Moon Anthology.
I was in the Air Force for two years. I didn't join right out of high school like my sister, but waited a few years. I moved to Barstow, California and lived there for a year. When I returned home I lost some weight and joined the Air Force I would have stayed in, but I developed asthma and was medically discharged. Darn Nebraska. lol
One more little thing about me. My husband and I went to high school together and even had a math class, as you know from above math isn't my thing. I had no idea who he was years later when we met on an online site. We met one night at a show, he is a musician, and that was it. We have been together ever since. We just celebrated our nine year wedding anniversary. How Jambrea Jo Jones got into Erotic Romance?
You know, this is a good question. I always worry that my stuff isn't hot enough to be considered erotic, but I've been told that it is. I just write what comes to me and I always hated being shut out of the bedroom in books that I've read. I'm curious and um…I like to watch. TMI? lol The Scoop!
I'm working on a couple stories. On my list is the sequel to Retribution. I'm calling it Salvation. If you've read Retribution then you've met Rock and Se. They are in Salvation along with Zander. It will be an m/m/f ménage. Um, I like my boys to touch. heehee I need to finish my second Semper Fi book. The first one is Magnus. The second one is going to be Ben. You read a little about him in Magnus. I kind of set Ben up in Magnus. My Marine series is all m/f. I'm also working on another m/m called On the Rocks.
As you can see, I'm not out of ideas and I hope to keep writing away. What Jambrea Jo Jones likes to read...
My favorite authors. I have a ton and I'm sure I'll forget someone, but here you go.
-Carol Lynne - hard to tell what my favorite book is because I LOVE them all. I might go with Physical Therapy and Eye of the Beholder as well as Ghosts of Alcatraz.
-TA Chase - my first love of his is Out of Bounds, but then he wrote Tabloid Star and it's my new favorite.
-Jan Irving - The Janitor hands down is my favorite book of hers. The sequel is just as good. The Boxer. And I can't wait for the third one.
-JR Patrick - she's new, but I love her stuff. Her first book is Only Yours.
-ZA Maxfield - she is another genius. Hard to tell what I love from her the most. I'll have to go with Drawn Together or Family Unit.
-JL Langley - I reread her all the time. She has three series. A futuristic regency, wolves and cowboys. I can't wait for her next wolf book.
You might notice that these are all m/m authors. lol I do have a couple m/f favorites
-Sherrilyn Kenyon - her Dark Hunter series is awesome
-JR Ward - She is my idol. I love her vampires
Told you it would be a lot and this is just touching on the authors I love.
INTERVIEWThe Sensible Questions:- 1.How have your life experiences affected your writing?
- I use them, sometimes for stories. But not a whole lot so I would say it doesn't really affect it. Unless I use the emotion. I've been known to do that.
- 2.Which of your characters is your favourite, and why?
- Wow, way to go for the heart. lol I enjoy all my characters. Of my published works Joe "Magnus" Rivers from Magnus and my two leads in Retribution - Rave and Kain. In my unpublished work I would say my characters in On the Rocks - Seth and Eric. They each are strong men. Magnus is a loyal marine and I have a thing about men in uniforms. I mean...have you seen a marine in his dress blues? OMG...HOT. Rave and Kain have been through so much and it was nice to see them work through things. Seth and Eric are the same way as Rave and Kain only they have different issues. Again, if you notice these are all men. lol My favourite female character is Emily from Magnus. She is strong and holds her own.
- 3.What heat level do you enjoy writing most, and why?
- I have a hard time with this because I'm never sure what heat level I write. I have to have others tell me. I like it hot so I try to write it that way.
- 4.What authors have influenced you most (not necessarily in the romance genre)?
- Margaret Mitchell, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, TA Chase, Carol Lynne and Robert Jordan. Each of these writers pulls me in and makes me want to write in hopes of being as good as they are.
- 5.Which comes to you first when you write, the basic premise of the plot, or the characters?
- Um...I do what my husband calls a brain dump. lol I just start writing and there it is. I plot as I go for the most part and I'm just as surprised as the reader. I think that is why I love writing Romantic Suspense because I have no idea who the real bad guy is until I write. Sometimes I surprise myself. Like in Magnus, I had two guys who could be involved I had no idea who it would be or if it could be both of them.
- 6.What is the biggest lesson that you've learned since you began writing?
- To keep your online friends close. It can be lonely writing, but to have friends to talk to helps. There are people out there who try to get you down and having friends helps.
- 7.Describe your writing space.
- I write on the couch in my living room. I don't have an office. My desk is a tv tray-table thing. I have a five year old and it is easier to be in the same room with him. So sometimes I write with Spongebob on in the background. Sometimes I write at work as well. Or my EDJ (Evil Day Job). I even have an I Love Myself space at work. Mostly Air Force stuff. lolMy EDJ office desk!

The Naughty Questions:
- How many toys do you have in your toy-box? (and we don't mean Barbie dolls!)
- Ahhh…too many to count? I like toys and you know…I think I might need to get a box.
- What or who does your ideal man look like?
- This is hard for me because I like all different kinds of guys. Young, older, muscled, or sleek.

Are any of the sexy scenes in your books based on real life?Um...a couple. What kind of clothing do you like to wear in order to feel sexy?Clothes don't really make me feel sexy. It is usually a state of mind and when I'm in that mind set I'm the sexiest thing around.lolWhat kind of clothing do you think makes men look sexy?Skin tight jeans and a white wife beater tank. Holy cow, now I'm panting. lolWhat is the most outrageously naughty thing you've ever done?Took my husband to a strip joint and had a stripper give me a lap dance. Her ta tas were so fake they were hard.

Anabella's dreams bring her to David, but is he the salvation she's looking for?
Anabella Pouge is plagued with powers she can't control, making her life far from normal when all she wants is ordinary. Change is coming her way when she must flee with a man straight out of her dreams.
David Sanders is sent to find Anabella. Without her, the future of his wolf pack is in danger. Forced to travel to the middle of nowhere, David finds Anabella might mean more than just his pack's survival.
Will the two make it back to the pack in time? Can Anabella and David accept each other and the coming changes to their lives? Read An Excerpt:[Click here to expand/collapse]EXCERPT:David Sanders sat in the diner in the podunk town of Robinsville, ready to give up. His alpha had sent him to this rat hole of a town to find Anabella Pouge and bring her back to the pack. When Russell Masters gave an order, you followed it or risked the consequences.
Finding Anabella was like searching for a needle in a haystack. No one in town knew anything about her, and when he showed her picture, he caught a vague sense of recognition but nothing firm. He didn't know if his being a stranger factored into their response and if the town was circling the wagons to protect their own, or if they really didn't know anything about the woman.
David had been in town three days, and he knew he would have to call Russ this morning to inform him of his failure. He'd never let his alpha down before, and being the bearer of bad news left a bad taste in his mouth. Hopefully, Russ would tell him to come home, but David feared that would not be the case.
He couldn't stay in the town much longer. The urge to change to his wolf form rolled over him constantly, but David didn't want to risk transforming in this unfamiliar place. Frustration at his failure made the urge stronger, and each day he struggled more with the wolf within.
Where the hell could she be?
David waved the waitress over for a cup a coffee. He pulled his phone from his pocket to call Russ, then he caught a scent in the air-”a new fragrance, fresh and musky all at once. It smelled like home and set off a hunger he'd never felt before. He turned, trying to locate the source of the essence.
Then he spotted her, and his body went on high alert. Retribution - Genre: Gay/ Futuristic/ Suspense

Retribution: Is love worth the cost?
Rave Anders lost everything - his job, his lover, and part of his soul. Accused of a crime he didn't commit, it's taken him years to build up a respectable intergalactic transport business. Pulled into a web of intrigue and espionage, Rave is forced to face ex-lover Kain Sims, the one man he no longer trusts.
On a mission for the Alliance, Kain must convince Rave the fate of a world rests in both their hands. Kain needs Rave to help to destroy a deadly weapon before it can be used to eradicate a planet. But that's the easy part; the hard part is making Rave believe he never wanted to leave him in the first place.
Can they save a world and reclaim the love they once shared, in a galaxy of deception? What the reviewers are saying"A Reviewer Top Pick! I really enjoyed this book by Ms. Jones; it truly lived up to what I expected and more...The story has a very satisfactory ending. I have read other books by Ms. Jones and her writing style continues to grow and improve with each book. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Jones' work." - Night Owl Romance Reviews Read An Excerpt:[Click here to expand/collapse]EXCERPT:"Commander Rave Anders, a panel of your peers has found you guilty of theft of government property. You are hereby dishonourably discharged and sentenced to thirty days on the penal colony Devil's Island."
Rave fell to his seat in disbelief as the panel left the room. Just like that, his military career was gone, like so much smoke. Most would think that was the worst thing, but it wasn't. The worst was Rave's lover, Kain, couldn't be found.
A hand landed on his shoulder. He turned, hoping to see Kain. His stomach sank when he saw his friend, Sela instead.
"It's no use, Rave. It's as if he's disappeared. His parents don't know where he is, either. I'm sorry."
He rested his head in his hands. "I can't believe it, Sela. He's out there, somewhere, hurt. He'd be here if he was able."
Rave looked up at Sela and saw the guards approaching behind her.
"I'll do what I can to find him, Rave."
He gave a sharp nod and turned to follow the guards to the pod waiting to take him to Devil's Island, his thoughts in turmoil. How would he survive the next thirty days? Being in the military put a target on his back and Devil's Island was one of the worst prison colonies in the universe. His heart ached at the thought of Kain, alone and hurt while he could do nothing about it. Nothing really mattered if Kain wasn't safe. The guard shoved him into the craft and shackled him to the seat.
After the criminals were processed, the ship started the journey to Devil's Island.
"Hey, you's that military thief? Yep, you is. You's the guy whose got fucked up the ass, but then, I hear ya like that, don't ya?" The passenger beside him snickered. "I'm sure you'll get plenty of action on DI."
Rave leaned over and yanked him close enough that Rave could smell the man's putrid breath. "Shut the fuck up."
"No need to gets with the rough stuff. I ain't after that pretty ass," the man mumbled as Rave shoved him back into his seat.
Rave closed his eyes to block out the upcoming nightmare. He had two hours to devise a plan that would keep him from getting killed while being detained. He had a lover to find.
One step at a time.
His thoughts drifted.What had happened?
That question played over and over in his mind. One minute, Kain had left the ship. The next, the Alliance had boarded the ship and arrested Rave. Two days before the ship docked, the crew had conducted an inventory and those government boxes hadn't been there. The Alliance had shown up, and suddenly, there the boxes had sat, pretty as you please. Something wasn't adding up.
Rave didn't do suspicion. He placed his faith in all his crew and expected their trust in return. Kain had never given him a reason not to trust him. Hell, Rave loved the man. He couldn't love a traitor, could he? Focus, Damn it! Worry about now.
The force of take off glued him to the seat. He swallowed then bit his lip. He wasn't prepared, not really. All the training in the world couldn't prepare a person for a prison colony-”an open world full of the worst criminals in the universe. He couldn't figure out why the Alliance wanted to send him to a high security planet. He should have been shipped off to one of the minimum security colonies.
When the flight smoothed out, Rave forced himself to relax. He had to get some sleep. He wouldn't get much on DI. Rave prayed he would wake from this nightmare, wrapped in the comfort of Kain arms, ready for their morning romp.

We made contact today. It's only a matter of time before the aliens land on Earth. They call themselves the Raxioni and our correspondence indicates they are peaceful beings. When we sent out the feeler months ago, we didn't think anyone would be listening. Bob and I were shocked when first contact was made and we discovered they spoke English. They seem as anxious to meet us as we are to meet them. I just wish there was a way to do more research on these beings. We have so many questions but, so far, not a lot of answers.
The contingency plan is in place in case things don't go as expected. The research itself is light years ahead of its time, and the chance to experiment alone is worth the risk.
It's been years in the making, but the time is finally here. We just needed an excuse to start, and what better reason than an alien race landing on our planet. The Sentry project is a go, and my colleagues have been interviewing candidates for months. We have a great batch of test subjects we'd like to have ready to go before the alien's touchdown. The soldiers will never know the real reason we are starting this programme. For all they are concerned, they are doing it for their country. Uncle Sam is backing us, and what they don't know won't really hurt them. It will benefit them in the long run.
Our Plan B will be implemented, as well, because you can't be too safe. It makes me a little nervous, but I want my daughters protected. I scheduled their procedure for tomorrow to hurry along the process. The other scientists will bring their children in as well. I can't wait until the beings land. I hope they will be more forthcoming in the months ahead.

Things did not go as expected with the Raxioni. The situation started out peaceful enough, but some idiot soldier shot at them in a panic, and now, they have attacked Earth in full force. The Sentries are a go. We are calling them The Sentries of the Earth or SE for short. I'm just glad we've had them in training for a while. Most of the planet thinks the Sentries were formed because of the attack; we will continue to let them believe that. We always feared an attack would happen. Who knew it would be because of our own soldiers? The Raxioni will not listen to reason and plan to wipe out the humans to settle on our planet. We'll never know if that was their plan all along, but at this point, I don't care.
My daughters underwent their experiment, and everything appears to be normal. We won't know more until we activate the chip. Cassandra seems resentful and unsure of what is really happening, but I will not risk their lives. This is for their own good.
We are in hiding now with the Sentries. We are trying to protect the human race, and nothing will get in the way.
Aside: One of the experiments that is working well is the tattoo warning system. I am shocked and amazed at the new discovery. It's not science but magic. Once the Raxioni started to fight, the magic users approached the government to help. They call themselves Mages. Most of the group was sceptical at first, but I have an open mind and love what they are showing us. The hope is that we will win this fight. I want a chance to study these Mages once the war is over. They are fascinating creatures. Why didn't we know about them before now? What else could be out there?
For now, each scientist is assigned a Mage to help experiment with the soldiers. I don't care what it takes, my family will be safe, and if magic will do it, so be it. We weren't sure how well it would stand up, but we have discovered magic does exist and with science to help we should have the threat taken care of soon.
