All about AKM Miles
I've written since I was in grade school. I had a friend who would read my stories and tell me what she thought. I've written about three hetero books, but they never seemed to make it. It was after Brokeback Mountain that I really got into this. I'd read other M/M books, but not fallen in love with the style. After the movie, I got the screenplay, read it, and while looking on line for more in that genre I found Torquere. I ordered a book, loved it, and that was the beginning. Before long I thought, I should try this. So, I started writing. I think I had five books ready before the first one went through. I sent a fangirl letter to Carol Lynne and started a nice relationship with her and through her, I found TEB. I'm now a happy girl, writing for both. I am thrilled to be an author at TEB. How AKM Miles got into Erotic Romance?
I love stories. I love romance. I love men. Put it all together and you have M/M erotic romance novels by AKM Miles. I think my books are story driven with hot sex involved, which is what I like to read. The Scoop!
Right now I am waiting for Take It EASY to come out November 25th at Torquere and for The Six of Pentacles: Tommy's Story (sequel to Soldier) to come out there on December 12th.
Coming from TEB on January 25th is Too Keen and in April the sequel to Love, Jamie called...Love, Grant is due on the 28th. These are the books I've finished. I am working on two others now and will have to get back to you on them.
I intend to do another sequel to Soldier about Gom, due to many requests, and then there's one about Randy from Brackets. Let me tell you, Daniel, in Take It EASY is going to need a story, too. I love sequels...can you tell? I like going back to visit the people I already know and finding out how things are going for the new ones. What AKM Miles likes to read...
Goodness, how much room do you have? Carol Lynne, Z A Maxfield, Ethan Day, Zathyn Priest, Shawn Lane, Rowan McBride, Norah Roberts/J D Robb, Christine Feehan, J R Ward, Andrew Grey, T C Blue, Meg Leigh, S J Frost, Ally Blue, M L Rhodes, Sean Michael, Kiernan Kelly, Serena Yates, Syd McGinley, Suzanne Brockman, Kate Steel, Tere Michaels, Willa Okati, B A Tortuga, Sherilyn Kenyon, G A Hauser, Mary Balogh, Addison Abright, Marjorie M. Liu, Cameron Dane, Lynn Lorenz, J P Bowie, A R Moler, Jordan Castillo Price, Kat Martin, Laura Baumbach...I could go on if you want...
INTERVIEWThe Sensible Questions:- 1.How have your life experiences affected your writing?
- I'm an observer. I see things and think that would make a nice story. The way someone touches someone else's hand, or bends to listen more closely. My personal history is not in the writing, but things I see turn up. That sounds contradictory, doesn't it? It's not about me is what I'm saying. It's about what I see and how it affects me. People I know, things that happened, may find their way into the stories, but not as having happened to me.
- 2.Which of your characters is your favourite, and why?
- I'm going to have to say Soldier. He just touches my heart with his need to care for others and the effect he has on the lives of the others in the story. Next is Jamie from Love, Jamie. He's such a sweetie and is so great with everyone and loves so strongly. Well, then there's Brack and Austin from Brackets...love on the mountain. What about Smart and Alex from my first one? They were such strong influences, being the first. Shame on you, asking me for a favourite. It's like asking who is my favourite child! I don't have any of those, so these are my children. They are all my favourites. Dare and Ryan with little JC. Then here comes Easy and Mano and Lance and Keen. Nope. Can't answer that.
- 3.What heat level do you enjoy writing most, and why?
- I like lots of heat, lots of sex, with emotion involved. I don't do kink or BDSM. You have to write what you're familiar with is what they say, right? It's not that I'm against it, I just don't want to do things incorrectly, so I don't go there.
- 4.What authors have influenced you most (not necessarily in the romance genre)?
- In this genre, Chris Owen, Kiernan Kelly, Sean Michael, as they were some of the first ones I read a few years ago and got me so interested in being part of this. I think I ordered Bareback and it had a collection of stories in it and I was hooked. After reading more I went searching and found TEB and Carol Lynne and I love her way of writing and her penchant for sequels. These all influenced me and made me realise how much I wanted to write what it was I most liked to read M/M erotic romance. I've read voraciously since I was in grade school so the number of authors, in general, that have influenced me is too long for this medium. I do love a good story. It's only in the last few years that I realised that I prefer those stories to be about manlove.
- 5.Which comes to you first when you write, the basic premise of the plot, or the characters?
- It kind of all comes at once. Hmmm...I think I'll write a book about a rancher, uh...Micah Stone...from Stone Canyon Ranch...maybe I'll call it Stone Canyon. I think I'll have him get a letter...and I'm off and running.
- 6.What is the biggest lesson that you've learned since you began writing?
- It's hard work. If it's going to be good. I don't have any trouble getting the story down and following it and the characters and the plot and the love scenes. It's the mechanics, no pronoun shifting (it makes sense to me who's doing what to whom, but there are rules, you know?) There's a lot of little picky things that have to be worked out after I get the story done that takes a lot of time and frustration, but to make it good, it's worth it all. To get the response letters from the readers. That's it for me.
- 7.Describe your writing space.
- Computer table with the chair I had when I was teaching. It's about to go. There's always clutter. There are always photos around and on the screen saver, my photos.Miles...hmmm?

The Naughty Questions:
- How many toys do you have in your toy-box? (and we don't mean Barbie dolls!)
- Actually, I don't have any. Can you say vicarious?
- What or who does your ideal man look like?
- Dark hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, tall, lean, cowboy hat (optional), nice full lips, ready smile, with a heart big enough you can see it in his eyes.
George Clooney
 Mark Harmon
Nathan Fillion

Will Jamie and Grant's new and exciting love for each other be able to withstand Donnie's violent acts of jealousy?
Jamie Taylor meets Grant Stevens through his work as a tech at a physical rehabilitation facility. Sparks ensue and Grant comes out of the closet for Jamie.
Things would be just great if it wasn't for the fact that Jamie has this stalker problem. The administrator's son, Donnie, has a thing for Jamie and doesn't like Grant showing up and horning in on what he considers his territory. Donnie makes his feelings known in a variety of violent ways. He preys upon everyone and everything that Jamie loves. Soon, that includes Grant.
It's hard to get a relationship started in good times, but with Donnie creating mayhem around every corner, it is even more of a challenge. But, Donnie's hate is not nearly as strong as Jamie and Grant's love.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of m/m intimacy and sex. What the reviewers are saying"I liked that it wasn't until he met Jamie that he realised that his life was lacking something. I also liked that it wasn't that Grant suddenly realised that he was gay but that he realised that Jamie was special and that it didn't matter that he was the same gender. The main focus of the story was on the developing love between Grant and Jamie and that made this a great read." - Fallen Angel Reviews
"It's always a pleasure to discover a new author, or one who is new to me. "Love, Jamie" by A.K.M. Miles is a terrific love story that will leave you with a big, satisfied smile on your face...Overall, "Love, Jamie" was a very good read...The characters are very believable, the pacing is tight and the passion is off the charts. I really liked A.K.M. Miles's engaging writing style and I eagerly look forward to reading more novels from this author." - Rainbow Reviews Read An Excerpt:[Click here to expand/collapse]EXCERPT:"So, you'll come to the house with me for a couple hours? You can see the place and get a feel for it. Brit will be ecstatic. He really likes you. Runs in the family," Jamie said, smiling into Grant's eyes.
"I'm glad."
They talked animatedly for a while about Saturday, then Jamie rolled Grant back to his room. When they got there Grant pointed to the door and asked if Jamie would close it. Looking, questioningly at him, Jamie did then turned back to find Grant right there behind him. He was almost pinned to the door.
Grant looked up at him and raised his hand, crooking his finger. "Will you come down here for a minute? I'd really...really like to kiss you. Or have you kiss me since I don't know that much about what I'm doing. I just think about it all the time and..."
He never got to finish. Jamie had thought about it nearly nonstop himself. Before Grant completed his request, Jamie granted it. He put both hands on the arms of Grant's chair and gasped when it started to roll. He reached down and locked it then planted his hands again. He leaned in and loved that Grant held his face right up to his, asking for it, wanting it.
While he wanted to take Grant's mouth hard and just eat it, he thought about Grant's lack of experience. He made himself take a deep breath before starting their first real kiss. He put his lips to Grant's forehead, smiling a little at Grant's grunt of surprise. He knew Grant had expected that hard kiss, but he suddenly felt...gentle...tender. He slid his lips down the side of Grant's face, stopping to place sweet kisses on each eye, down his nose to his chin. He pressed a little harder and let his tongue come out to caress the tip of Grant's chin, then slid to the front of his ear and licked another spot.
He felt Grant quiver. He leaned further and took Grant's lobe into his mouth and sucked for a second. Before he left that area, he slid his tongue out and laved the area right behind Grant's ear. He took note of the fact that Grant shivered and gave a tiny gasp. Jamie was enjoying himself. Bought and Paid For - Genre: Contemporary/ Gay

Wait until Dr. Parker Easton finds out it's his former lover, Deacon, who has "bought" him for a date at the bachelor auction in which he was forced to take part.
Dr. Parker Easton has used his work as an oncologist to try and forget the pain of losing his lover, Deacon Wagoner. Parker had thought they'd be together forever, and he would never understand how Deacon could have cheated on him. It had been two years and Parker was still too hurt to even think of seeing anyone else.
Now he was forced to participate in a fundraiser for the new hospital wing, a ridiculous bachelor auction. He'd planned on donating only, but now found he had to strut out there and try to raise money for the cause.
Stunned, barely covered the way he felt when he found out it was Deacon who had arranged to pay an exorbitant amount for the date. What the hell? What the reviewers are saying"This story is a dichotomy: it's a beautifully written story about a ridiculous premise. I love A.K.M. Miles's way with description...Still, the story is very readable, if predictable, and the sex scenes are quite hot. Buy this one for your summer vacation reading." - Rainbow Reviews
"The love both main characters show throughout this little novella was indeed well worth reading. Parker Easton is obviously a loving, caring guy, considering what he does for a living. His heartache is almost palpable from the very beginning, which seems really strange at first, until AKM Miles tells us why." - Fallen Angel Reviews Read An Excerpt:[Click here to expand/collapse]EXCERPT:"Dr. Easton, you're next. You don't have to worry about anything. I told you that we've already been promised ten thousand for you. Just walk out there, smile, nod to a couple of the ladies, or men if you'd like, and unbutton that jacket and let them see what they're bidding on." Dixie smiled at his obvious discomfort at her words.
"Right. What are they going to say about me while I'm doing this walk of hell?"
"Nothin' but the truth, hon, nothin' but the truth." She crooked her finger as she turned, expecting him to follow. He felt like a lamb being led you know where.
Dixie stopped abruptly before they got to the curtain he was to walk through.
"Hey! Head up, show some pride. You can't walk out there looking like you lost your best friend. Go out there and sell it, Dr. Easton, make us proud, and make us a lot of money." Giggles followed these remarks. Giggles! Good Lord!
Parker shook his head and threw his shoulders back. Damnit. He didn't want to do this, but he was stuck. Five minutes, tops, and he could walk off there. He'd show them all. He started by leaning down and planting a smacking kiss on Dixie's cheek. She almost shrieked and then the giggles hit again.
The announcer's voice drew him out. "I feel like we've waited all night for this man. Give a warm welcome, and I have to tell you, I'd like to give him a warm welcome, to Dr. Parker Easton. Parker is thirty-three and in perfect health. He is, as you can see, a fine, fine figure of a man."
This is where Parker unbuttoned his jacket and held it open by putting his hand in the pocket of his tux pants. He hid the awkwardness he felt by tossing his head and throwing a huge fake smile out into the crowd. Women yelled and waved money. What? Was he supposed to let them put it on him somewhere? Geez!
"Oh, look at that. Thank you, Parker. Ladies...and gentlemen, doesn't he look great in that black tux? Remember this date is for dinner only. I can see a few of you all are thinking about more. Could you turn for us, Dr. Easton, and let us see the whole...uh...package, shall we say? Oh yes, like that."
Parker was happy to turn and face the curtain for a second, trying to keep from running right back off the stage in embarrassment. He sucked it up and turned back around, managing to put a bit of a swagger in the next couple of steps he took. Maybe he should shake his booty and make their night. As one of his current young patients would have said, "Like, no!"
"You are a natural at this, sir. What do you say? Is everyone ready to start the bidding? By the way, I have a note here saying that someone has already bid a very substantial figure for a dinner date with this very exciting man. Shall I tell you all what that starting bid is? Yes? Ten thousand dollars. Whew! Do I hear ten thousand five hundred?"
Parker nearly ruined the whole thing as his eyes bugged out as a bidding war started between an older lady, a young black man he'd never seen, and a fiftyish-looking woman who looked vaguely familiar. There was laughter and joshing back and forth and he felt like dropping right through the platform floor. How long could this go on? What was the number now?
He turned back in just in time to hear the announcer say, triumphantly, "Sold! Congratulations to the lady in the emerald gown, number forty-five, for twenty-five thousand dollars! Dr. Easton, you have raised the largest amount for the new wing. Congratulations to you and to the winner of the dinner date with you. If you'd like to go with Dixie now, she'll take you to the conference room to meet the person with the winning bid."
Parker started off the stage, stunned, shaky even. No way would someone pay twenty-five thousand dollars to eat dinner with him, even if it was for a good cause. Come on.
