All about Sam Crescent

Sam CrescentSam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011.

She loves creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she's not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

How Sam Crescent got into Erotic Romance?

I was trawling the internet looking for something different to read when I stumbled upon Lora Leigh and her breeds series. I never knew about erotic romance and never thought to give it a go. When I found e-books my world opened up. Then I picked up my notebook and pen and the rest is history. I had found the genre I'm passionate about and love to write within.

The Scoop!

At the moment I'm still so new at this that I don't have any book signings or news on events I'll be attending. Also, I'm way to shy to go to any of them. Maybe sometime in the future I'll be attending some.

What Sam Crescent likes to read...

I love many different varieties of authors. I've just finished the first two books of the Fifty Shades series and throughly enjoyed them. I have so many authors who I love to read. They include, Delilah Hunt, Dawne Prochilo, Jean Joachim, Sophie Oak, Lorelei James and Vivian Arend to name a few...

INTERVIEW

The Sensible Questions:

1.How have your life experiences affected your writing?
I don't know and that is truthful. I write what I love and try not to let anything that is happening in my life affect my writing.

2.Which of your characters is your favourite, and why?
I will never be able to pick a favourite as I love them all for their own characteristics. I know I found a lot of pleasure delving into William (The Valentines) as he was so broken but there was a part of him which could be reached.

3.What heat level do you enjoy writing most, and why?
I like to mix it up and have different heat levels which fits the story. I'm also trying my hand at a sweet romance as I love reading them myself.

4.What authors have influenced you most (not necessarily in the romance genre)?
I don't think any other author has influenced my writing. I write what I like to read and what I'm passionate about. I love so many authors and I consider reading my down time. Also, I'd be too worried in case my stories started to sound like the person I was reading at the time.

5.Which comes to you first when you write, the basic premise of the plot, or the characters?
This is different for so many stories. Sometimes the title will come to me first and then the story. Most of the time it is a character who comes first. I see them and can begin to form a plot around them. Characters, in my opinion are the main focus in every story. Without them, the story would be pointless.

6.What is the biggest lesson that you've learned since you began writing?
To never expect anyone to love your work. I have to realise that everyone is different and my work is similar to Marmite. You either love or hate it.

7.Describe your writing space.
I have several spaces where I consider I write. Of course there is my lovely closed of pink laptop which makes me focus on my work. Then a beautiful picture of my pride and joy, my range cooker. I love this cooker purely because so many of my stories began while I was taking notes and stirring a sauce. I must have books around me and a chance for me to have some background noise. The final picture is of several notebooks. Here is where I can sit and make notes of the stories which have been in my head for some time. A lovely cup of coffee and I can immerse myself in my work.

The Naughty Questions:

How many toys do you have in your toy-box? (and we don't mean Barbie dolls!)
Considering the genre I write in, I only own three and that is because I won them during a competition. They're not even open.

What or who does your ideal man look like?
Older, always has to be older.

Are any of the sexy scenes in your books based on real life?
Sorry, I'm not known for kiss and tell. That will remain between me and my erm.....

What kind of clothing do you like to wear in order to feel sexy?
I love my silk nighties and matching underwear. Nothing feels nicer than knowing you're wearing sexy, expensive underwear.

What kind of clothing do you think makes men look sexy?
Jeans. I think a lot of men look good in jeans. Proper jeans not the style round the ass or anything like that.

What is the most outrageously naughty thing you've ever done?
Write erotic romance books.

What the reviewers are saying

"What better way to ignite a new romance than to be stranded in the wilderness during winter armed only with a map and a little food, right?...Nathan and Anya are both appealing characters and were fun and somewhat comical to read about...a hot little story." -The Romance Reviews

"The read for me had me laughing when it came to the interaction between Nathan and Anya. Anya was a professional in the office and a freak at home. Nathan was cute to me ; he's not your typical millionaire. In this book you have a purple dildo, vibrating panties, a cat and mouse game, sexual bickering, a few laughs and a sexy limo ride. It was basically a fun quick read. Loved the epilogue." -The Romance Novel Junkie

Forces they cannot control are fighting against them. Time is running out. Sophie's secret is about to be exposed. Is there time to save the ones they love? Can Robert and Sophie move on and survive the war that is about to begin?

What the reviewers are saying

"Bravo, to the author, on what I though was a stellar performance with this story. I went into reading this story not knowing what to expect, and I finished feeling hyped for the next book in the series. I thought The Valentine: Robert is the start of a good foundation to a series. I appreciate and enjoyed the scenery, the action, along with the physical characteristics of vampires and werewolves that was created. Although this is a novella, the author still manages to incorporate a lot of information that explained everything so well. With talks of the council, humans, vampires, werewolves and mystical beings, this story does not disappoint." -The Romance Novel Junkie

Time is running out.

He promised to keep her safe, he promised to protect her. William Valentine failed. On the night his father was murdered, the same wolf took Katie from him. The one and only surviving witch...or is she?

Katie White is going to die. She can feel it. Her determination and thoughts of William are what is making her fight to stay alive. But time is running out.

An old foe from William's past is determined to see Katie finished.

Will William make it in time?

The Valentines-the war has only just begun.

What the reviewers are saying

The sound of glass smashing could be heard in every corner of the bar. The audience looked on at the spectacle in silence, each doubtless wondering if they would be the target of the vampire's wrath.

"Where is she?" A fist was raised. Usually, bar fights were great sport, but in a predominantly vampire-filled bar there was no sport, just information gathering-and it wasn't acquired over tea and biscuits. It always got bloody and it never ended well. A Valentine was on the prowl and no one was about to get in his way-”even if the vampire William targeted was scared for his life.

The way the other customers saw it, the guy getting pummelled shouldn't have earned a reputation for being a messenger to the wolves. A man supporting both sides of the war.

"I don't know, man. No one has talked." The guy covered his face, denying all knowledge. Adam stood and observed from the dark corner as he watched his older brother lose control. William was completely out of it.

Since another witch had been taken-Katie, the best friend of his brother Robert's bonded mate-it was like he was losing his sense of reality. No one could reason with him.

"Tell me where they are," William snarled in the young vampire's face. Adam winced. He was here as a favour to Robert and he loved his brother, but this was too damn much. There was no thought, no consideration of the chaos he was causing. It had hit him worse even than losing Emma. It was like someone had carved out his heart and left him hurt and bleeding.

Katie White, the last remaining witch, was still alive, and that made it worse. At least Emma had been dead and he'd known there was nothing he could do to change that. But William knew that Katie was out there, and he was leaving a wave of destruction everywhere he went in his efforts to find her.

William wasn't the same man. There was no mercy in this guy. Rage, anger and pain consumed him now. His was on a destructive path. No one-not even Robert-could stop him now.

Adam looked around at all the people observing the fight. Vampires, wolves...shit, even demons sat and watched William. Most of them looked terrified of the vampire who had clearly lost his mind.

Shaking his head, Adam turned back to watch his brother.

As much as he thought that this was wrong, he would never get in between his brother and what he felt he needed to do. The witch clearly meant something to him. No vampire went this crazy for a woman unless she was a bond mate.

Adam didn't know much about her. He'd never met her. A few months ago, she had been taken by the wolf Alpha, James. The same night his own father-head of the vampire council and the most powerful vampire in all of Beyer West-had been killed. Murdered, actually. Taken from them by the same wolf.

Everything around them was going to shit and his brother was determined to go down the same path. At any time the other customers could jump them and finally be rid of the unstable Valentine boy. For decades, William had made himself a reputation for being the crazy brother, but now he was driving his ruthlessness to a whole new level.

Adam tensed as the barman approached his brother. The barman was a vampire and, from the look of it, one of the older generation. Adam moved closer. If it went the wrong way he would back his brother. Whether he believed what his brother was doing was right or not, family came first.

That was what made him a Valentine.
