All about Summer Jordan

Imagination is my greatest gift. I've always loved making up stories. I can't look across the room in a restaurant without creating lives and relationships for diners at nearby tables. As an only child, I had a lot of imaginary friends. I loved pretending and dreamed of becoming a movie star. However, I'm not the boldest mermaid in the sea. (grin) So, at some point, since my other favorite pastime was reading, I started to write the stories I created in my mind.
A true romantic who wanted a husband, children, and the proverbial picket fence, I married right out of college and started reading and later, writing, romance novels. My first marriage was as unsuccessful as my early attempts to get my work published. But I found the love of my life (not that I believed it at first) and we're living the happily-ever-after in Florida near the ocean where I picture myself as that daring mermaid. What could be better than living looking out the window at sunshine and palm trees as I write?
How Summer Jordan got into Erotic Romance?
Sexual attraction is such an integral part of a relationship, it's only natural two people who are strongly attracted indulge in all aspects of getting to know one another as intimately as possible. The euphemisms used in sweet romance are silly and hard to relate to. I saw erotic romance as an opportunity to inject new life into my books. Readers want to feel the emotions and share the excitement and exhilaration of the characters they read about as they consummate their love. I have a friend who was doing very well selling erotic romance and she suggested I explore the genre. I found it to be honest expression and I'm glad I did.
The Scoop!
ENGAGING DECEPTION, the third book in my Wives-R-Us series, is scheduled for release by TEB on November 3, so I'm taking some time out to spread the word. I'll be chatting with readers November 6 at Loves Romances and More. I'm running a contest at my site and will make announcements concerning other events in my newsletter. I've updated my website and now I'm looking into book trailers and other new-to-me promotional venues. I'm technically challenged and need help with such things!
I've finished a Lust Bite, LONG, HARD TEXAN, which is a February '09 release that is HOT. And I've started another book, tentatively titled, "Bad Boy Back in Town."
What Summer Jordan likes to read...
I don't find as much time to read as I'd like. Between writing and promoting my books and my attraction to the beautiful outdoors and activities with friends and my husband, I read less than I did before we moved south. However, Total-E-Bound authors have become friends and they're all very talented so I'm trying to sample their various works!
Carole Matthews, Lorna Landvik, Jennifer Crusie, Lori Foster, Mary Higgins Clark, and Katherine Smith are some of my all-time favorites. I mostly read romance but enjoy mysteries as well.
INTERVIEW
The Sensible Questions:
- 1.How have your life experiences affected your writing?
- I learned not to give up but to go after what you want. Follow your dreams. What you find that makes you happy may not be exactly what you thought you were looking for but is likely to be better.
- 2.Which of your characters is your favourite, and why?
- Bartender Derek Acamporo in Engaging Deception is extremely sexy and his sexual exploits with Erin always turned me on as I wrote them. (Have you ever thought about this hazard for erotic romance writers?) He's half-Italian and I like his dark looks and the moustache he uses skilfully. (Did I mention my husband has a moustache?) Derek uses all his physical assets well. Yes, so does my DH. (grin)
- 3.What heat level do you enjoy writing most, and why?
- Sizzling is easier for me because I've written sweet-hot romances in the past, but with each book I write for TEB, I turn up the heat more because I think readers like "burning". I'll get there yet, but I do insist on writing relationships that are genuine and lead to HEA.
- 4.What authors have influenced you most (not necessarily in the romance genre)?
- I've read so many different ones that it's hard to say. I like putting humour into my books because it's so important in relationships and life. Jennifer Crusie had an impact on me in that respect. I've heard her and Lori Foster both speak and Lori's persistence made its mark on me. She wrote ten books before she sold and now she's on bestseller lists.
- 5.Which comes to you first when you write, the basic premise of the plot, or the characters?
- Lately, I've been finding that creating a really sexy guy in my mind is key to writing a hot story. I find a man on TV or in a magazine or in my memory (grin) and embellish him with the traits that are most provocative and appealing. For me, an irresistible stud is what sells female readers on the book as well as making it more fun to write. In the past, a basic plot idea came first, then the characters. I think the latter is more important but the two have to go together.
- 6.What is the biggest lesson that you've learned since you began writing?
- That I write for the love of it and not for the money. "A true writer" can't stay away from the keyboard.
- 7.Describe your writing space.
- Oak furniture sits against one wall of the room with my computer desk flanked by bookshelves that contain an assortment of items: books, speakers, camera dock, phone, a picture of my husband, Rolodex, and fun items like a paperweight that looks like a gigantic diamond ring. The window to my left looks out on our sunny palm-lined street where geckos frolic and neighbors on bikes or in golf carts catch my eye.
- 7.

The Naughty Questions:
- How many toys do you have in your toy-box? (and we don't mean Barbie dolls!)
- Um...a few. Do Ken dolls count? LOL
- What or who does your ideal man look like?
- Tall with a great build and neat facial hair. I enjoy moustaches and beards.
George Clooney

Are any of the sexy scenes in your books based on real life?Well, of course. But I won't tell which ones.
What kind of clothing do you like to wear in order to feel sexy?Slinky, silky pants and tops in black or cream, high-heeled sandals, and long necklaces and dangling earrings.
What kind of clothing do you think makes men look sexy?Tight-fitting dress pants and a tailored sport shirt with an open neck that shows a dark tan and chest hair.
What is the most outrageously naughty thing you've ever done?Had sex behind the wheel riding down the highway. He was doing all the driving. LOL Yes, it was dangerous.

What the reviewers are saying
"This book is billed as an erotic romance, but Dear Readers, it's SO much more....I highly recommend this very full, complex, and lighter side romance. It is filled with gentle humour you will come to expect from this author." -
Romance at Heart Magazine
The sex is especially hot and there were times this reviewer needed a good fan! Lea and Mike fit very well together even when they did not completely agree with each other, and I found that refreshing. I savoured every word in this book like I savour chocolate; as slowly as possible. I highly recommend Let Me Entertain You, and greatly look forward to more books by this author. -

EXCERPT:
"I think you were saying you like sex; am I right?" Mike slid his hand under her skirt and ran it up her thigh. He touched the crotch of her bikinis, and she moaned in anticipation. He traced a path, probing, and she felt herself moisten, even before he slipped his finger inside to repeat the action.
"Right. And I think you were saying I'd like what you do," she gasped. She was uptight about a lot of things, but sex wasn't one of them. Was Mike concerned that she might be a perfectionist about this? She almost giggled, but then he rubbed the exact right spot, and she cried out.
"Hold that thought," he said, switching off the van with his left hand.
She hadn't even realized they'd reached the condo parking lot. "Don't stop," she begged, grabbing onto his wrist.
"Ah, baby, you are hot," he said. Gently pushing her down on the length of the seat and sliding a finger inside her, then another, he pumped them in and out. "Definitely hot."
"Ohmigod, Mike. That feels so-o good." She was getting wetter by the minute, and she thought she'd die if he stopped, and yet, she wanted something more. "No one can see us. It's dark. Fuck me, please."
"Not yet, sweetheart. Not here." Sliding her dress up around her waist, he pulled down her panties and leaned over her, tracing circles on her stomach with his tongue.
"You're torturing me," she gasped.

Margo Allen never expected to meet a hot guy in this staid neighbourhood and didn't dream she'd fall in love with a younger man.
But she never knew what hot sex was until she met Brit Hunter, or how much fun they'd have breaking the rules. Deceived by former partners, each has to learn trust, but making love and making up are fun to do.
Frequency, location, performance, and love…Brit teaches Margo things she never knew.
What the reviewers are saying
Breaking the Rules is a fun and spicy way to spend an afternoon, but be aware that this story is not for the faint of heart; the sexual encounters are frequent and explicit. If you like a slow progression through courtship to love you may want to choose something else, but if you want a fun and very spicy love story, Breaking the Rules by Summer Jordan may be right up your alley. -

EXCERPT:
"The drapes are open and someone could walk by."
"It will take too long to go upstairs. I want to fuck now." Margo pulled her top off over her head and flung it across the room. She reached slowly behind her back, pushing her breasts up and forward as she unfastened her bra. Slipping it off, she leaned forward and swung her ripe globes in front of Brit. Her breasts were still firm and perky and she knew they turned him on. Twirling her bra like a stripper with one hand, she stroked his cock with the other. Brit's emotions always showed on his face and Margo enjoyed watching them go from surprise to amusement to desire. Like a man in a trance, he pushed his clothing out of the way to give her better access to his penis.
She'd started her performance to make the night memorable for Brit but Margo was enjoying herself. Kicking off her high heels, she inched down her slacks, slowly. Striking a Marilyn Monroe pose with a pouting mouth, she stepped out of them, first one leg and then the other. Ending with a high kick that sent them past Brit's head, she turned her back to him and hands on knees, she bent over to give him a good view of her derriere clad only in a black thong.
Looking over her shoulder, she saw his expression turn to lust. Ripping his clothes off, he kept his eyes on her ass. "Come here, you," he growled, leaping forward to push his bulging cock hard against her thong-covered crack. "You are such a naughty girl, I'm going to have to teach you a lesson."
The lights of a passing car swept across the room and the two of them froze until the room dimmed again. Then, Margo grabbed Brit's hand and pulled him into the half bath under the stairway. "Teach me," she taunted.

EXCERPT:
With a clear view of the bar, Erin could tell that the bartender was one she'd never seen before. "Wow. Look at that guy mixing drinks, would you? Is he sexy or what?"
Tall and slender, he had dark wavy hair, piercing brown eyes with long, thick lashes, a Roman nose, and between flared nostrils and full, sensuous lips...a moustache that intrigued Erin. She'd never known a man with a moustache. How would it feel when he kissed her? Here I go...imagining again. One sexual thought leads to another with me.
She narrowed her eyes and focused on his moustache, imagining how it would feel against her breasts when he sucked them. Would it tickle and make her hotter? Her nipples hardened and she grasped the edge of the table. She could see him sliding his lips and tongue down her stomach, that line of whiskers above his mouth brushing her tender skin and making her weak with desire. He'd wend his way down her thighs, circling around to that crease where they met her body...first one, then the other, and then he'd find...home. He'd lick inside her sex and take her clit in his mouth and those tickling little hairs would drive her mad with excitement.
She could orgasm right now with a touch of her hand. Her breath was coming fast and her breasts were swelled with excitement.
"I'd like to find true love with him," she said, sighing.
Suddenly, the barkeep looked straight at her and their gazes locked. For a moment, neither of them moved. Then, lifting the corners of his mouth in a barely perceptible smile, he winked, and Erin nearly climaxed. She looked away, suspecting her face was flushed. Did he know what she was thinking? Did he realize she was tingling with desire and moist down there? She felt as if everyone in the cocktail lounge knew.
Lea laughed. "I saw that," she said. "He is hot and you caught his attention and vice versa. Do you think he's Italian or Hispanic? He has that swarthy look."
Erin glanced his way again and found he was still watching her, arms crossed at his narrow waist. The long sleeves of his light blue dress shirt were rolled up to just below his elbows, exposing the fine layer of dark hair on his arms.
She took a gulp of her drink, nearly emptying the glass. Thinking about the hair that would line the rest of his body...chest, legs, pelvic area...she grew even wetter between her legs.
"I...don't know, but it doesn't matter. I'm in love with Mitch. However, there's an old saying that you're dead when you quit looking at other men."
"You weren't just looking. You were flirting and you weren't alone in doing it. But don't look so scared," Lea said, laughing. "You're allowed to get all worked up over another man." She paused to dip a chip in salsa and with it poised in the air, added. "Isn't it enlightening, however, that he's the complete opposite of the guy you're dating? To me, that says Mark Mitchell may not be your type at all."
Erin swallowed the last of her Cosmopolitan and looked over the rim of her glass at the bartender. He had his head turned and she managed to read his name badge. Derek. A nice name with a suitably masculine sound.
Derek must have felt her gaze because he looked around and half-smiling, plucked a cherry from the bowl on the bar and laving it with his tongue, held Erin captive with his eyes. If he could do that with his eyes, imagine what he could do with his...other body parts.
