I have bought a downloadable book, how do I read it?

To read the books -

  1. Choose the format that you want to read from your VIP account and download it by selecting the purple 'Download' button in your bookshelf. You can download the file either to your computer or to a device (eReader, iPhone, iPad etc).
  2. You can select from Adobe ePub, Adobe PDF, MS Reader, Mobipocket or HTML.
  3. Enjoy!







Which eBook format should I read?

On the whole it comes down to two factors - Compatability (will it work on your device) and then your own personal preferences.

    Here is a brief and very generalised breakdown of the formats.
  • ePub - The EPUB format is the most widely supported vendor-independent XML-based e-book format. The format can be read at least by the Kobo eReader, Apple's iBooks app running on iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, Barnes and Noble Nook, Sony Reader, BeBook, Bookeen Cybook Gen3 (with firmware v. 2 and up), COOL-ER, Adobe Digital Editions, Lexcycle Stanza, BookGlutton, AZARDI, FBReader, Aldiko and WordPlayer on Android, Freda on Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7, and the Mozilla Firefox add-on EPUBReader. Several other desktop reader software programs are currently implementing support for the format, such as dotReader, FBReader, Mobipocket, uBook and Okular.
  • The only notable device lacking integrated support for the EPUB format is the Amazon Kindle. To enable ease of use for our customers, Total-E-Bound offers a 'send direct to Kindle' feature straight from your customer VIP account.
  • Adobe Reader PDF - Widely used. It is good for general use on PC/ Laptop and is easy to use.(requires Adobe Reader)
  • MS Reader - Is useful because it will keep all your books in one library and remembers the last page you were reading although may not work on all devices.(requires Microsoft Reader)
  • Mobipocket - For use with mobile/cell phones, PDA's and other mobile devices.(Requires Mobipocket reader)
  • HTML - Good for general compatibility as it can be read in any Web Browser and most ePaper readers.

Do I need to buy extra software or devices to read eBooks?

All you need is your PC, Macintosh, laptop or hand held device and some free-to-use reader software.

We sell eBooks in five formats - ePub, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader, Mobipocket and HTML. Each format has it's own free-to-use reader software that is available to download by following the links on the side of this page.

Also you can now read your purchased eBooks directly from your bookshelf in your VIP area. (Please note - Adobe's Flash player is required to take advantage of this feature)

What eBook formats do you offer?

We offer eBooks in four formats - ePub, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader, Mobipocket and HTML.

When you purchase an eBook with us, we provide all five formats in your VIP account and you can choose which one you'd like to download at any time. You are not restricted in your choice, and we like to offer you better value for money.







Once I have bought my eBook, will it always be available for download?

Yes, once you have purchased the eBook it is yours. The title is stored on your Total-E-Bound VIP account and you can access it at any time by logging in with your username and password. The exception to this is if a book is no longer in contract with Total-E-Bound Publishing, in which case you will receive a message when you asttempt to download the book letting you know that the book is now out of contract.





How do I download the books I have purchased?

Once a payment has been accepted by our system, your purchased eBooks will be available for you to download from the 'bookshelf' in your VIP account. An email will be sent to you confirming the order along with the order details and a link to your VIP account. From your VIP account, you have two methods for downloading your books:

There are two ways to download your books from your VIP account:

  1. Click on the cover in the 'bookshelf'. Select one of the links appear to the left of the cover (by file type/by type of reader) then click on the file button that you require and download the file straight to your computer.
  2. Select the format from the list view in the dropdown box (select ebook by reader/select ebook by format), and click on the purple download button, then download straight to your computer.







How do I send my eBooks to my Kindle device?

In your customer account there is a Kindle section. Follow the set up steps provided there (also shown below) to send your books directly from your Total-E-Bound bookshelf to your Kindle device.

  1. First add kindle@total-e-bound.com to 'Your Kindle Approved Email List' in your Kindle management page at Amazon.
  2. Add your Kindle name to your Total-E-Bound VIP account following the link in your account.
  3. You will then have the option to "send to kindle" from your bookshelf.

Can I transfer my old eBooks to my new computer?

Yes. We do not place restrictions on how many times you can download your books once you have bought them. So, if your computer crashes and you need to set back up on another device or computer, simply go to your VIP account and re-download the books.







Why do you need my billing address?

Your billing address is required by the company that validates your credit card number. This helps to protect you from unauthorised use of your card. For information on how Total-E-Bound protects your personal information, see the privacy policy on the information page.





Can I order by phone or with a paper cheque?

Ordering by phone would require a dedicated staff to answer your calls. Similarly, processing personal cheques would require additional staff to open mail and manually process orders. To keep costs low and pass the saving onto you through well priced titles, Total-E-Bound doesn’t accept phone orders or personal cheques. For your convenience, our website accepts all major credit cards and PayPal payments.





I didn’t receive an email after purchasing a book.

Some e-mail services may put mail from unrecognised senders in a "Spam" or "Bulk Mail" folder. Make sure your e-mail service is set to accept mail from Total-E-Bound.com. if you are still having problems email us at h...@totalebound.com and we’ll resend it.





Can I print the eBooks or do you place restrictions on the files?

Yes you can. We do not place any restrictions on the number of times you can download your books or how you view your book. We even update your VIP account when a new version of the book is created, so that you always have the latest version of the book.







I am having trouble downloading a book I've purchased.

If you have problems, contact us at h...@totalebound.com. Include your order number, a description of the problem, and any error messages you received. Please note that although we do our best to respond quickly, during holidays, weekends, and times of high e-mail volume it may take up to 48 hours to receive a response (although it is often much sooner).





How do I get technical support?

If you are having difficulty with a particular eReader then you can click here for some links that will help solve any issues you may be having.

If you are having problems with the website then first may we apologise. We know it can be frustrating when a website doesn't function as expected, missing pages and slow server response is particularily annoying but thankfully rare. When we are testing additional features on the website it doesn't perform as expected 100% of the time. We try to carry out maintenance and improvements at times when we feel it would disrupt the least amount of users.

Payment/ Billing




What payment options do I have?

You can pay for your books directly with your Credit/Debit card (Visa/Mastercard/Maestro/Solo) or if you require to use a different Credit/Debit card you can pay by setting up a Paypal account.

Alternatively, if you already have a Paypal account you can choose to pay for your books using that facility.

You are free to decide which payment option you'd prefer to use during the payment process.








How soon after payment will my eBooks be available in my VIP account?

In most cases any eBooks and Gift Vouchers will be available in your VIP account immediately.

Occasionally there may be a delay of a few minutes before the books are released whilst waiting for a notification from PayPal.







What is your refund policy?

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds on eBooks (for Print books look here). With products of this nature that can't be 'returned' in the traditional sense it is very difficult to safeguard against fraud and copyright theft, hence the non return policy of many software companies on the market.

We also had to adopt this policy, so instead we put our efforts into making plenty of information about our books available beforehand so you as a reader can make a well informed choice.






Gift Vouchers



How do I purchase gift vouchers?

To purchase a gift voucher just add a gift voucher to your basket and pay as normal. Next time you log into your VIP area your gift voucher will be available for you to view and email if required.








How do I send the Gift Voucher to someone?

To send a gift voucher you need to purchase one as normal.

In your VIP area any purchased gift vouchers will be visible on the Gift Voucher table. On the right hand side of the table you will see a link saying 'Send this Gift Voucher'.

If you click on this link a form will open - you can then fill in the email address of the recipient and include a message from you that will be sent in the email.

After sending, you may re-send the message if necessary by selecting the 'Resend' option.








How do I use the Gift Vouchers?

Simply browse through our online catalogue and select the products you wish to purchase by clicking the 'ADD' button. When you have selected everything you wish to purchase, click 'Basket' on the right hand side of the page and you will be taken to your basket.

On the Basket page you can enter the unique Gift Voucher code into the provided area. The amount will be deducted from the basket total.

On the secure checkout page, click on the Promotion Code section and input the unique code sent to you on the back of your hard copy Gift Voucher. This will redeem the value of the voucher from your order. You will be required to pay any outstanding balance using your credit or debit card details as normal.

If there is any remainder left on the Gift Voucher it can be used again until the redeemable amount reaches zero.








The 'Send Gift Voucher' link isn't working on the Gift Voucher table, what do I do?

What do I do if the recipient didn't receive my Gift Voucher email?

If they haven't received the email advise them to check their spam folder.

If you think you mispelled their email address you can delete them from the Gift Vouchers table - Please note that they will no longer be able to retrieve that Gift Voucher (unless you send them to it again).

You can always re-send the email to the recipient by using the 'Resend' link on the Gift Voucher table.







How many times can I use one Gift Voucher?

You can use the same Gift Voucher a number of times as you like until the value remaining reaches zero. You can check the remainder by either checking your VIP area or by going through the form on the Gift Voucher page.







Do you share any information with other companies?

No. We believe that profiting from personal information is wrong and so we guard our customers details like our own. Personal information is only ever used for the purposes of processing orders and combating fraud.








Why do I need to provide my billing address?

Your billing address is required by the company that validates your credit card number. This helps to protect you from unauthorised use of your card. For information on how Total-E-Bound protects your personal information, see the privacy policy on the information page.

Furthermore, your correct shipping address is required if you purchase any print books otherwise you will not be able to receive your purchased books.








Why should I provide my telephone number?

Your telephone number is not mandatory but we request it for the same reason as your billing address. The payment and anti-fraud systems are more robust if a telephone number is included.

We will never pass on your telephone number to any third-party except where it is absolutely required to combat fraud or ID theft.








How do I use the bookshelf?

To use the Flash bookshelf you will need to have Adobe's flash player installed which is available for free from Adobe.

To view your books you can scroll your bookshelf by hovering your mouse pointer over the 'Next' and 'Back' buttons or by hovering over the far left/ right hand side of the bookshelf window.

Click on a bookcover to view that book. You will then be able to read or download the book

What do I do if I lose my password?

There is a password reminder form on the VIP area login page. If you enter the email address you registered with us a reminder of your password will be sent there.








I requested my password but didn't receive it.

There are two main reasons why you have not received your password.

  1. The email has been blocked
    1. Check your spam folder - occasionally legitimate emails are incorrectly flagged as spam
    2. Check that your Internet Service Provider isn't blocking emails on your behalf - certain ISP's provide an anti spam-service that can occasionally block legitimate emails.
  2. The email address on your account is incorrect - if you believe that this is the case then contact the support staff: h...@totalebound.comhelp email









I am expecting an email but haven't received it.

There are three main reasons why you have not received email from us.

The email address on my account is wrong what should I do?

If the email address on your account is wrong then please contact our help and support team at the following email address h...@totalebound.comand they will make the change for you. For security purposes, you must provide your existing registered email address along with the new email address before we can alter it for you.

Author's FAQ Section




What do you do with all the submissions that are sent to you?

When we receive a submission we endevour to read it and respond within six weeks. You will however, receive an automated response within 24 hours letting you know that your submission has arrived.

Unsuccessful authors will receive feedback on work they have submitted, and the submission will be kept on file unless the author requests us to erase their submitted work.



Do I need an agent to submit a manuscript?

No. Some of our authors do have agents, but it is not necessary to have one in order to submit a manuscript. If we like it, we'll be happy to publish it and work directly with you.





What is your turnaround time on submissions?

We are conscious that authors are usually eager to find out if they have been successful, and do try our hardest to give you a speedy response. In most cases, submission turnaround time is approximately twelve weeks, however, timescales can sometimes be delayed, for example if we have a very busy period.





If I am contracted, when would my titles be published?

We would agree a suitable date with you that fits with the current release schedule. We are currently looking at a six month turn around from acceptance to publish date.





Do you accept authors from other countries?

Absolutely. We currently work with authors from many different countries. Your stories must be written in English, and we would need to ensure that our payment methods are acceptable for you.





I already have titles published in the mainstream; will Total-E-Bound accept a submission from me?

Absolutely. Some of our authors work with a number of publishing houses.





As a mainstream author, I require confidentiality. Can you guarantee that?

Yes. Although we think that it's nice if an author decides to share a little of their background with readers and other authors (as you can see from the author profile pages and author spotlights), we totally respect an author's wish to remain private.

You can use any pen-name and give as much or as little information for fans as you wish and for our part we will ensure that your identity is kept confidential.





Do you publish in print?

Yes, we offer trade paperback print books as well as electronic publishing.
