“Julia!” David Winston stepped into his outer office and snapped angrily, “Did you get the Johnson files set up on the computer?”

Julia Brown’s face flushed as all eyes turned on her. “Almost, Mr. Winston,” she replied, wishing she could crawl into a hole and die.

“How am I supposed to work with almost?” He sneered. “I need that case entered now. Bring the files and come in here, on the double, or you’ll be working late tonight.” He turned on his heel and marched back into his private office, slamming the door between the two rooms loudly.

Standing and gathering her paperwork, she headed into his office.

“He can’t make you work late,” her co-worker Stella muttered in hushed tones.

“Oh, he’ll try.”

She opened the office door and heard her boss bellow, “Stella! Hold my calls!”

“Yes, Mr. Winston,” Stella called back and made a face at Julia.

Julia entered the plush office, closing the door behind her.

“Lock it,” he demanded.

She did and went to his desk, depositing her armload of files on its immaculate surface.
